This is a piece I did my senior year at UMW—I painted and collaged on the covers of a set of Narnia books, then set them up in a sort of sculptural arrangement on a pedestal.
The idea was to use the books themselves as a canvas to demonstrate how much of a formative influence they had been for me. Most of the collage materials are unused doodles taken from my desk drawers at home. I’ve been hoarding drawings and other random paper scraps from school for a very long time, so some of the things that got assimilated into the compositions here are really very old.
